What is NCSSM's GPA scale?
Which GPA do I report?

Does NCSSM calculate an unweighted GPA?
No, leave it blank if it asks for it. NCSSM only calculates a weighted GPA for NCSSM classes. Transcripts reflect 9th/10th grade unweighted GPA (if reported), 9th/10th grade weighted GPA (if reported), and NCSSM weighted GPA. Some scholarships may require you to report an unweighted GPA. The Common Application only gives ten spaces for classes. What should I do if I have more classes than that?
Prioritize your classes and combine as many as you can on one line. Counseling Services will send your entire senior schedule with your transcript.
How do I designate NCSSM courses, Honors? AP? Accelerated?
All of NCSSM courses are Honors level and above. Therefore, you may indicate 300+ level courses as "Honors". You will indicate all AP courses as such, "AP". If you are taking 400+ level courses, Common App does not offer an appropriate designation in their drop down box. menu. Therefore, you may simply type "college level" before the title of your course and not choose anything in the drop down menu.
Do NCSSM students list 400 level classes as AP?
No. Only list classes that are titled "AP" as AP classes. All other academic courses are Honors level or above. If the course you're taking does not fall into one of those designations (Honors, AP, Accelerated; for instance, you're taking a 400+ level course), be sure to note it in the course title box as college level.
How many NCSSM courses are labeled "AP"?
13 AP course sequences
How many honors courses does NCSSM offer?

Also, please ask the teachers to put your full name, date of birth, Common Application ID, and current high school (NCSSM) on their letters.
The Common Application asks if my education has been interrupted. What do I put?
Answer yes and type in the explanation area that you applied and was accepted at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, so you transferred high school for 11th and 12th grades.
How far in advance do I need to request my transcripts?
Transcripts are processed in the order of the deadline dates you specify, not by when they are entered. However, since Mrs. Oxendine has so many to process, it is important to make your requests in advance. You must request your transcripts at least two weeks in advance. You may request anytime before that.
What grades are on transcripts if students apply early action or early decision?
9th-11th grades only

Transcript, counselor summary letter, counselor school report, NCSSM Profile, and entire senior year schedule
Can I make make changes once I have submitted my Common Application to a college?
Once an application or writing supplement has been submitted to a specific institution, you cannot make any changes to it (just as if you had dropped it in the mail), and Common App is not permitted to make changes on your behalf. In general, the Common Application is designed to be completed one time and submitted to all of the colleges at once, or over a period of time. If you need to change information on a submitted application, you must contact the college's admission office directly to ask how they would like you to proceed. That said, you can make changes, and submit it to other institutions.
Is there a limit to the number of edits I can make to my personal essay once I've submitted an application?
You are allowed unlimited edits to the essay after your first application submission.
